A dragon like skull being used as a temporary home. , with a focus on the pots.

Cone

For this assignment, we were tasked to model an object from real life. I chose a cone that I walk past everyday on my way to class. I hand painted secret notes in the cone, as an easter egg.

Crab Light, or my beloved “Cramp”

We were assigned the task of modeling, and texturing a hybrid object. Inspired off of hermit crabs, and a street light I saw on my college campus, I came up with a Crab and Street Light hybrid. Out of all the projects, I had the most difficulty balancing the number of seams versus the amount of distortion. My solution was to create UV maps that had the minimum amount of distortion, with seams that would follow natural forms.

Skull Home

For our class’s final project, I created an exterior and interior environment. Inspired by wolf skulls and seeing shipping containers reused for homes, I wanted to create a level asset of a Dragon Skull repurposed for a dwelling.

For Skull Home, I wanted my textures to look hand-painted, which I did using Substance Painter and my drawing tablet. This is most noticeable in the soft brushed gradients on the bones or the tarp’s textures.

To make the Tarps look like they are blowing in the wind, I used a cloth simulation to get the windy deformations and rendered the simulation frame that looked the best.
